Apex Sports & Events Hires General Manager
Youth and amateur sports complex begins bringing on staff as it ramps up for opening 

(Hillsborough, NJ) March 29, 2019: Apex Sports & Events, a brand-new sports, events, and entertainment facility set to open in Hillsborough this fall, has hired Sandra Weingart as the complex’s General Manager.  In her role, Weingart will lead in the development and execution of Apex’s mission: to provide Hillsborough, and the surrounding communities, a haven for sports, recreation, and family entertainment.

“Sandra brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this project. We’re thrilled to have her lead our team and drive the success of the venue,” states Gregg Wilke, Apex’s owner and long-time Hillsborough resident.

Prior to arriving at Apex, Weingart built a successful career in youth sports and facility development. She’s run numerous venues across the country and has been responsible for the creation and development of youth sports programming. Her connection to athletics started at a young age, where she excelled in soccer, basketball, baseball/softball and was a Junior Olympian swimmer. She went on to play soccer at Belmont University in Nashville, TN where she, along with 21 other freshmen, formed the university’s first NCAA D1 Women’s Soccer team.

“I’m very excited to work on this amazing project,” says Weingart. “After meeting with Gregg Wilke and learning about his passion for the facility and commitment to the community, I knew this would be a great fit for me.”

Since beginning her role, Weingart has been focused on meeting with local programs and representatives who are looking to take advantage of what the facility has to offer. Next, she’ll be looking to hire more staff to the core team, including a Sports Director, Marketing Coordinator, and other key part-time employees. She has already brought on Fred Ewig as Business Development and Events Director and Melissa Fulton as Finance Manager.

“There’s a lot to be done before our opening this fall,” explains Weingart, “but we are truly excited to build this project from the ground up and begin serving the community.”
